In the past three decades we’ve seen thousands of digital calendars arise for the world of work. But somewhere along the way, our social life was forgotten — holidays, dinners, dates, movie nights, walks, road trips and calls — these plans got lost. Or worse, never made.
Onin is a secure calendar for friends.
The app combines calendar features you know — events, scheduling, and notifications — with social features you love — chats, groups, usernames, and invitations.
In the app, you can create group calendars with friends that work like group chats. In the chat you can plan together, add events, check your calendar, and see event changes. It's easy to invite people to plan in Onin, all you need is the personal invite link you get when signing up.
Your calendar contains your life — locations, events, contacts — but unfortunately existing calendar apps (Google, Apple, Outlook, AOL, Yahoo, and more) lack the security to keep your data private because they don't fully end-to-end encrypt your data.
Onin is a privacy-first calendar. Each of your events and messages, and your profile, is secured with end-to-end encryption (E2EE). E2EE is a security method that keeps your data private. It works by securing every piece of data with a cryptographic lock, and only the recipient and you have the special key to unlock it. Nobody, not even Onin, can see your data. It can sound complicated, and that's ok, lots of people don't undertand the nuances of encryption. That's why soon we'll be sharing a simple breakdown of how E2EE works, and why it's important.
Privacy and security are in the DNA of Onin, and it goes beyond E2EE:
There is a movement of people calling for a technology rennaisance. A shift in focus, from connecting the world, to connecting your world. Our mission is to drive this change.
Earlier this year we launched early-access to our first 100 public users. Now, we’re gradually releasing the app to our waitlist before opening up access later this year.
Onin is currently only available on iOS, but we’re working hard to bring it to Android as soon as possible. Our roadmap is public, so you can make suggestions and vote for new features.
