What is end-to-end encryption?

‍Privacy is at the heart of OurCal and we always go the extra mile to keep your data secure. It’s why we’ve been end-to-end encrypted from day one. OurCal is the most private shared calendar available.

Encryption is the process of scrambling data that people can read (for example, the name of a calendar event) into unreadable text that only you can decrypt. OurCal encrypts your data at every stage of its journey from one device to another.

This ensures that no one, including OurCal, can access your data. If you use a calendar that doesn't use end-to-end encryption, the service—or a malicious third party—can access all the details stored in your calendar at any time, for any reason, and you won't know. This includes your whole schedule, your whereabouts, and the whereabouts of those around you. It's incredibly important to use a calendar that protects your data with strong and certified end-to-end encryption.
