Now on the Mac App Store

OurCal running natively on iPad showing a full month calendar view, on Mac with an event detail window open, and on iPhone with a day's agenda.
OurCal, now native on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS, and Android.

OurCal for Mac is here. Previously available as a beta, the Mac app is now on the Mac App Store for everyone, with refined lists, forms, and text fields throughout for a polished, native feel. See who's online — and know your plans have landed.

See who's online. Green presence dots now appear on avatars in chat, so you can tell at a glance who's active. Tap any avatar to view their profile and see "Online" or when they were last active. Together with Message Info — which shows when your messages were delivered and read by each member — you now have full visibility over whether your plans have landed.

📅 Just launched: The All-New OurCal for iOS

The all-new OurCal app for iPhone showing a full-month calendar view for February 2026 with colour-coded events, and an agenda sheet listing the day's events including Piano Practice, Food Shop, Playdate, Tennis, and Family Dinner.
The all-new OurCal for iOS — completely redesigned.

This is the biggest update to OurCal since we launched. We set ourselves a challenge: make OurCal even easier to use without losing any of its powerful functionality. The answer is an app that's been completely redesigned — with a unified calendar view, colour-coded events, powerful new filters, and a faster way to create events.

🆕 Pinch to zoom calendar

See your week your way. Pinch in or out on the calendar to smoothly adjust how many event rows are visible — from a clean, minimal two-row view to a richly detailed ten rows. Your preferred zoom level is remembered automatically.

Redesigned event details

Everything you need to know, right where you'd expect it. A new scrollable info strip puts the group, calendar, recurrence, timezone, and end-to-end encryption status front and centre. Duration now appears directly in the header, so you never have to do the maths.

Fixes

  • Fixed recurring all-day events (e.g. birthdays, holidays) appearing on the wrong day for some timezones
  • Chat messages now load correctly when opening a group chat or event thread from a push notification
  • Dates and times throughout the app now respect your region's format preferences, including date ordering and 12-hour vs. 24-hour clock. Event details show your current timezone offset (e.g. GMT−4, CET+1) when viewing an event in a different timezone.
  • The timezone picker now computes offsets based on the event's date, correctly reflecting daylight saving time
  • A "New" divider now marks where unread messages begin when opening a thread or channel
  • New events now default to the current group's emoji instead of "❤️"
  • Fixed a persistent unread badge caused by deleted event threads being included in the badge count
  • Fixed recurring events not syncing the start time when editing an existing event
  • Fixed recurring events generating overly specific recurrence rules when fields like day or month weren't explicitly set
  • Fixed the chat channel list getting stuck on a fresh login
  • Fixed tapping a notification opening a duplicate chat when the channel was already open
  • Fixed event chat threads taking longer than necessary to load
  • Fixed the paywall showing subscription products from the wrong group when upgrading
  • Fixed full-width list separators in Settings and group member views
  • Fixed group member list sometimes missing members whose profiles hadn't finished syncing

Known Issues

We're aware of the following issues and are working quickly to resolve them:

  • Editing a single instance of a repeating event may generate update notifications for all other instances
  • Calendar scroll position may reset after opening a notification and navigating back
  • Device name may not display correctly on the Synced Calendar Info screen
  • Message states (waiting, sent, delivered, seen by all) are not yet shown in group and event chats
  • Group may disappear from the message feed if all messages are deleted

Now on iPad and Vision Pro

OurCal running natively on iPad showing a full month calendar view, on Mac with an event detail window open, and on iPhone with a day's agenda.
OurCal, now native on iPad and Vision Pro.

OurCal goes beyond iPhone. On iPad, OurCal now runs natively — no more stretching the iPhone app to fit. And on Apple Vision Pro, OurCal is ready to float right alongside everything else in your space.

Update: The Mac app is now available on the Mac App Store as of 2026.3.9. OurCal is now native on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS, and Android.

Message info

iPhone showing the Message Info screen in OurCal, with sent, delivered, and seen status and timestamps for each group member.
The all-new Message Info view — sent, delivered, and seen, for every member.

Know exactly where every message stands. Tap any message to open the new Message Info view — a detailed breakdown showing when your message was sent, delivered to each member's device, and seen, with individual timestamps for every recipient.

Redesigned event layout

Event cells have been redesigned with a cleaner layout that better adapts to different content — showing time, location, and title in a more balanced arrangement.

Fixes

  • Fixed launch crashes on iOS 17 and iPadOS 17
  • Fixed an issue on iOS 17 where navigating within sheets could cause the app to hang
  • Fixed chat scrolling jumping to the wrong position when loading older messages
  • Fixed thread history not loading completely in some cases, with the "Load More" button appearing incorrectly
  • Fixed editing a single event occurrence triggering unnecessary update notifications to group members
  • Fixed the app reconnection flow after being offline, which could leave the groups screen stuck on a fresh install

Known Issues

We're aware of the following issues and are working quickly to resolve them:

  • Calendar scroll position may reset after opening a notification and navigating back
  • Device name may not display correctly on the Synced Calendar Info screen
  • Group chat thread may disappear from the message feed if all messages are deleted

🆕 The All-New OurCal for iOS

The answer is an app that's been completely redesigned — with a unified calendar view, colour-coded events, powerful new filters, and a faster way to create events.

One View for Everything

A close-up of a single OurCal event card for Family Dinner, annotated to show how the coloured bar on the left represents scheduled members and the dot on the right represents the calendar it belongs to.
Each event shows who it's for and where it lives — at a glance.

Two tabs became one. The Calendar and Schedules tabs have been unified into a single, vertically scrolling calendar — an infinite list you can flick through naturally, just like everything else on your phone. Every event is shown together, differentiated by its calendar colour and the colours of its scheduled members. No more switching between views. Just open OurCal and scroll.

See Exactly What You Need

The new Filters screen in OurCal showing and/or filtering by calendars — Kids, Social, Activities, and Work — and by members, with toggles to select or unselect all.
Filter by calendars, members, or any combination of both.

Sometimes you need to check your partner's work schedule before booking a date night. Other times you want to see just the kids' school calendar, or focus on your own week ahead. New and/or filtering by calendars and members lets you zero in on exactly the view you need — without the clutter of everything else.

Your Day, Two Ways

The OurCal calendar view for July 2026 with a list/timeline toggle in the agenda sheet, alongside a timeline day view for Friday 21 July showing Piano Practice, Playdate, and Tennis laid out across the hours.
Tap any day to see it as a list or a timeline.

Tap any day to open a new agenda sheet. List gives you a clean rundown of what's on. Timeline maps it across the hours so you can spot gaps and overlaps at a glance. Two ways to look at the same day, one tap to switch between them.

Create Events in Fewer Taps

The new event creation screen in OurCal showing the Wilson Family group, Auto-Fill Details input, date and title fields with a single-tap all-day toggle, and a Schedule For section with members Annie and Gemma selected.
Fewer taps to create an event — turn off all-day and set an end date directly.

We trimmed the steps it takes to add an event. Turn off all-day with a single tap. Reach the end date field directly. Small refinements, but you'll feel them every time you schedule something.

Fixes & Improvements

  • Fixed tapping an event location not showing the full list of map and navigation app options
  • Group admins can now remove members directly from the group
  • Share photos and files in chat
  • Redesigned event cells with a cleaner, consistent look across calendar, timeline, and agenda
  • Week rows now show up to 5 events at a glance, up from 4
  • The list/timeline toggle now shows which view is active
  • The half-height agenda no longer dims event colours
  • Upgraded core dependencies for better reliability
  • Fixed several crashes related to login, database timing, and server connections
  • Fixed the chat list getting stuck after a fresh sign-in
  • Fixed tapping a chat notification when the app was closed not opening the conversation
  • Fixed the upgrade screen occasionally showing incorrect subscription options
  • Fixed messages failing to decrypt during startup
  • Fixed the one-time password recovery flow

Known Issues

We're aware of the following issues and are working quickly to resolve them:

  • Chat messages may not load when opening a group chat or event thread from a push notification
  • Calendar scroll position may reset after opening a notification and navigating back
  • Unread badge count may include deleted events, causing a persistent badge
  • Device name may not display correctly on the Synced Calendar Info screen
  • Message states (waiting, sent, delivered, seen by all) are not yet shown in group and event chats
  • Unread messages divider is not yet shown in group and event chats
  • Recurring all-day events may display one day early for users in timezones ahead of UTC
  • Group chat thread may disappear from the message feed if all messages are deleted
